Still reeling from getting kicked out of her sister's apartment, Cassandra falls hard and fast for Nathan, a local DJ. After a whirlwind romance, he convinces her to quit her job and enlists her to dance at his club. As his coercive control increases and his demands grow darker, Nathan soon isolates her from her friends and family. Confused and desperate, she must figure out how to save another from the same fate and decide what her own freedom is worth.

Told through a diary brought to life with stop-motion drawings, the film follows a young girl as she reflects on her experiences, emotions, and identity while trying to understand what it truly means to be human. Through meaningful memories of her father, quiet observations, and intimate visual storytelling, the film explores loneliness, growth, self-acceptance, and the limitless passage of life. Lucky to Me is a 1939 British musical comedy film directed by Thomas Bentley and starring Stanley Lupino, Phyllis Brooks and Barbara Blair. It was based on Lupino's own 1928 stage show So This is Love which he had co-written with Arthur Rigby. The film was made by ABPC at its Elstree Studios. It was the last film of Lupino who had made a string of successful musical comedies during the Thirties.
